Medication Management
While many patients can be helped with therapy alone, medications can be an important adjunct in helping people deal with their issues and move forward with their lives.
Our psychiatrists are trained in the latest psychopharmacological interventions, and use medications conservatively to help patients.
At South Coast Psychiatry, our doctors see patients both for medication management alone (as a consultant to other therapists who are treating the patient), as well as for combined therapy and medication management. If medications are indicated, your psychiatrist will review with you the rationale for recommending medications, as well as indications, anticipated benefits, side effects, alternatives, drug interactions, time course and other relevant information of any medication they prescribe.
Our doctors encourage their patients to ask questions about any medication(s) that may be prescribed to them in the course of treatment, and to look toward well-validated sources for additional information.
